Strategic plan implementation, leadership development, and learning design for mission-driven organizations. Based in West Sacramento. Twenty-plus years in learning and development, from corporate training floors to a 60-agency statewide network.

// HOW I GOT HERE

The short version.

I started in corporate learning as a sales trainer at Verizon. I was good at it, and I won awards for it. But selling never felt like the work I wanted to be doing.

People management training felt more honest and more human. That’s where I found the tools I still build with.

DiSC, MBTI, and later CliftonStrengths became my foundation. In 2012 I co-founded Workforce Equanimity and built the firm around those tools. The Intentional Learning Organization, the core of what’s now the L4 Framework, came out of that work.

In 2018 I joined CalCAPA and spent eight years leading training and technical assistance for California’s Community Action network. That’s where I learned what it takes to carry one plan through 60 organizations, and to build systems that keep running after you leave.

The thread through all of it: people do their best work when the work fits who they are. That’s what I help organizations design for.

// WHERE L4 CAME FROM

Co-developed
with Dr. Larry Hiner.

The ILO began as an extension of my father’s doctoral work on innovation. We built it into a working method together at Workforce Equanimity, and he contributed the Radical Adult Learning approach used in the HOW pillar.

The framework also names every model it stands on. We didn’t invent these. We wrote down the version that holds together when you use them in sequence.

// HOW I WORK

Alongside, not above.

Most training fails for a simple reason: people go back to an environment that doesn’t support the change. So I don’t start with a course. I start with your plan, your managers, and the behaviors the plan depends on.

The framework belongs to you the moment you understand it. My job is to make it usable on Monday morning, then make sure it holds. Whatever you do next is up to you.
